Inspiration: The Umbrella Academy (TV)
Where to start with the Umbrella Academy?
The chaos throughout the four series of the show is a great advertisement for creating and running with strong, eccentric characters. There are elements of brilliance throughout, and I enjoyed watching all four series on Netflix.
However, do you ever watch something that you think could have been just a little bit better? Some of the characters, I feel, we could have seen a little more. As it's a superhero show, I wanted to look more into the limits of those powers and their impacts on the individuals. What pushed the characters, and what did they want?
Perhaps its because the show starts with the end of the world. If that's your first page, your first problem, how on Earth do you escalate for subsequent series? The third series in particular seemed to rehash a lot of the same ground as before, once the hook at the end of series two was resolved.
How strange that the end of the world becomes boring... but...
