Poem - Wendy-Cat
A short poem about the latest addition to my family
Thursday is a serious day for writing serious things. Luckily, I wrote this over the course of the week, so it’s a little bit funny. I hope it makes you smile.
My family is now complete
We took in a little cat
A good choice for a poet
As it’s easy to rhyme with that
If we had adopted something else
A lion, chimpanzee or lizard
I’d struggle to write a poem
Without a handy blizzard
Maybe one day we’ll look elsewhere
Get a snake or a mongoose
But to do so would make things difficult
And make my poems more obtuse
Maybe a hippopotamus
But probably not an eagle
That would limit my rhymes
And make them sound less regal
So I’ll stick with little Wendy-cat
She’s much calmer than a dog
I won’t bother with fancy animals
I’ll write poems about my mog
